LAWS Esther Mae Thomas Laws, age 98 1/2, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 14, 2003 at The Laurels of Worthington. She was born in Leesville, S.C., July 10, 1905. Preceded in death by parents Rev. Allan A. and Annie Thomas, eleven sisters and brothers, husband Virdre C. Laws, Sr.; daughter Marianne Laws Chandler and an infant son. Survived by daughters, Geneva J. (Ervin) Colston, Virginia L. McCammon, Ethel M. Traylor; and son, Virdre C. Laws, Jr.; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Gregg of South Carolina and Ell Willie Gives of New York; sister-in-law, Woodie B. Laws of Columbus; and a host of nieces and nephews. Member of Mt. Vernon Avenue A.M.E. Church of Columbus, Ohio and emeritus member of St. John A.M.E. Church of Worthington, Ohio where she was Superintendent of the Sunday School for 30 years and active in Mt. Vernon Avenue A.M.E. Church until her health declined. Special thanks to her class leader, Bessie Bowman for keeping her spiritually connected through visits and delivery of tapes of the services. Special thanks to the Missionary Societies of both churches for their support. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2003 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. William S. Wheatley, officiating. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tape Ministry at Mt. Vernon Avenue A.M.E. Church, 1127 Mt.
