Obituary.
Mrs. Mary R. Leckliter, nee Armstrong, was born Oct. 11, 1827. Her death occurred in her 67th year. In her 16th year a very severe attack of scarlet fever greatly affected her head, resulting in great deafness. That deafness continued through all her life.
In her early young womanhood, she was maritally united with P. C. Leckliter. To these parents were born nine children, eight of whom, four sons and four daughters, are now living. One son is in the active work of the ministry of the M. E. church in Missouri. In 1854 the family removed from Belmont county to Franklin county, two miles west of Worthington, remaining 31 years, thence to Worthington some years ago. Since the death of her husband last October her health has rapidly declined.
She united with the M. E. Church in her 18th year. Her Christian life has been one of Christian life and enjoyment. She built her Christian character wisely and well. She loved the church but could not enjoy the sanctuary as those who could hear. Her special field of Christian work was in the home. In the home her Christian life, her helpful Christian counsel, earnest prayers and telling influence can not soon be forgotten.
To-day her children will rise up and call her "Blessed." Her record is on high. We mourn her departure. We would drop affection’s tear at her memory;. We would emulate her Christian virtues. We would meet her in yon heavenly home.
Her funeral services were conducted from her late residence by her pastor, Rev. John R. Tibbles, March 12, and were attended by a very large number of sympathizing friends. Her remains were laid to rest beside those of her late husband in Walnut Grove cemetery, near Worthington.
