Dr. Robert P. (Mike) Merrill Jr., age 73, Wednesday, September 2, 1992 at Riverside Hospital. Survived by wife, Margaret, of the residence; sons, Dr. Robert P. III (Donna) of Logan, Ohio, Stephen M. (Peggy) of Redmond, Wash., Dr. Timothy J. (Lois) of Newcomerstown, Ohio, Christopher J. of Gainesville, Fla.; daughter, Ellen M. (Paul) Sullivan of Galena, Oh.; 9 grandchildren; brother, Edward of DeVille, La.; sister, Barbara Mote of Coppell, Tex. A graduate of OSU College of Dentistry, he served in WWII as a captain in the Army Dental Corps. During a 44 year career, he practiced in the Columbus area and was an Assistant Clinical Professor at OSU. He served as president of the Columbus Dental Society, of the Ohio Academy of Dental Practice Admin., of the Columbus Dental Veterans, and as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He was a member of the Columbus Museum of Art, and an active supporter of the Columbus Symphony and Opera Columbus. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 4, at St. Patrick Church (Grant and Naughten Streets), Fr. Carleton Jones, OP, celebrant. Private interment Walnut Grove Cemetery.
