Mabel Miller, 90, of Worthington, passed away on May 9, 2022. She was born on June 16, 1931, in Akron OH, to the late Carl and Bessie (VanArsdell) Goodlet. In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Miller; and her brothers, Carl and Charles Goodlet. Mabel graduated from Akron's North High School in 1949. In May of 1950, after completing some courses at Cincinnati Bible Seminary, she married her high school sweetheart, Donald Miller, at Riverside Church of Christ in Akron. She taught children's Sunday School classes, sometimes helping to establish them in churches she attended where there were none. She worked as a secretary (Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company), pre-school teacher (Tree of Life Christian Schools), and receptionist (Worthington Christian Village).
In her spare time Mabel enjoyed bowling, volleyball, walking, reading, and watching Fixer-Upper and Shark Tank. She always enjoyed a good game of Skip-Bo with her grandchildren and was even known to play football with them (at age 70!). Some of her favorite things included: tulips, flowering crab, dogwood, and magnolia trees, pizza (every Friday night), ice cream, and having a good laugh --she was a great fan of slapstick comedy! Mabel will be greatly missed by her children, Martha E. (Jeffrey) Hill, Beth Ann Miller, Donald E. (Trish) Miller II, and Mark Alan (Amy Beth) Miller; grandchildren, Emily Hill, Melissa (Shawn) Wuske, James, Abbie, Elaine, Benjamin, Sophia (Jared Scrowther), Caroline, Conor, and Judah Miller; great grandchildren, Caleb Wuske, and Persephone Miller-Scrowther; and numerous other extended family and close family friends. (We expect Granddogs Tiger Miller and Bear Miller will miss her too.) A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 4PM until 7PM at the Schoedinger Worthington funeral home. A visitation will also be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 10:30AM until 11:30AM at Worthington Christian Church, where a funeral service will follow at 11:30AM.
