Sam Perdue, recently preceded in death by beloved wife Susie, died Dec. 16, 1995 at home. A. Cleveland, Ohio native, Same was a WWII combat veteran who served with the US Marine Corps in the South Pacific. A Hiram College graduate and career journalist for over 40 years. Sam started his career at the Cleveland (OH) Press but then moved to the Columbus area where he worked for the Columbus Citizen until it became the Citizen-Journal. Same served the C-J as a reporter in many capacities until it folded in 1985. He covered City Hall, the Court House and Police Station. He also served as City Editor and most notably, as a columnist with the column "Being Civil". Most recently he wrote a political column for "The Ohio Observer". Always an advocate for others, Sam's career was a quest for fairness and truth. He is survived by children, Tim and Molly; sister, Jane Canfield; sister-in-law, Lynnie Bradley; niece, Susanne Shank; nephew, Stephen (Layne) Sharp; stepsons, Mark (Mary) Bass and Greg (Pattie Ann) Bass; grandchildren, Samantha, Chelsea and Taylor Bass and Tyler Clancy; friend, Margaret Greirson and many other friends and neighbors. Funeral service Thursday 12 noon, Dec. 21, 1995 Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, (1/2 mile S. of I-270), where friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Graveside service Friday 1 p.m. Walnut Grove Cemetery, Worthington. Marge Cutler officiating.
