Susie E. Reinhard Grubaugh “Cruiser”, born November 22, 1939, passed away surrounded by her loving family July 4, 2021. She was preceded in death by parents, Charles & Elisabeth Evans, sister Lucia Moffett, oldest son Rick Cash and two beloved aunts. She is survived by husband of 34 years, Ric Grubaugh, son Charles Cash and wife Leslie, daughter Patricia Cash and boyfriend Greg Longfellow, sister Anne Tenwick and husband Dave, multiple nieces, nephews and 8 grandchildren. She attended Denison University, University of Cincinnati and was a 1976 graduate of The Ohio State University. She taught briefly at Immaculate Conception in Clintonville but found her true passion creating Magic Cruises in downtown Worthington with her daughter, Patti, in 1988. Being one of the first cruise-only travel agencies in the nation, they provided adventures and vacations of a lifetime to thousands of travelers.
Cruiser will be remembered for her love of all things…big and small...from a lost ant on the kitchen counter and all animals to a group of hundreds of cruise clients. She gave each her love and care. She loved all in God’s world and God loved her back in so many ways. She had three wonderful children, who she raised on a financial shoestring but a braided tow rope of love. Each in their own way, they grew into fine adults. They were her world and a gift to our world. While not blessed with the best of health through her adult life, she could light up a room with her arrival and her smile. Whether it was rocking to the sounds of 80’s music (like Bob Seager’s “Someday Lady You’ll Accompany Me”) to providing the brains and design for remodeling projects, she was the spirit that drove the scene. There was never a stronger, braver, more considerate and loving force of nature than our Cruiser. And God willing, “Someday Lady We Will Accompany You!” In God’s world, flowers are beautiful and appreciated, but flowers can stay where they are…uncut in a meadow in the sunshine. Susie had a special place in her heart for cats and knew that there are so many needy and homeless cats that are most amazing when they are safe and cared for. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Cat Welfare at 741 Wetmore Rd., Columbus, OH 43214. Family and friends will gather on Friday, July 9 at Rutherford’s Funeral Home in Worthington for a Celebration of Life: 4pm-5pm visitation followed by a service at 5pm. No need for suits and ties, please wear your casual “cruise” clothes and come as you are!
