Carl R. "Tubby" Speakman, age 89 died Sunday, November 21, 1999 at St. Angela grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother Herbert Spangler, Columbus, Oh. Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Preceded in death by his parents Luther and Effie Speakman; brothers Ray, John, Joe and Charles; sisters, Jane Ann and Helen Speakman. Survived by loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Florence "Flossie" Speakman; nephews Donald (Joann), Jack (Pat), and Bobby (Jackie) Speakman, nieces, Nancy Speakman and Caroline Morgan; many other loved ones and special friends. Born in 1910 and a lifelong resident of Columbus. He loved to fish and bowl. Carl served on the Battleship U.S.S. Hancock in WWII. Retired from the C&O Railroad after 35 years; a 58 year member of Neoacocia Lodge #595 F&AM; a member of Peace United Methodist Church. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Schoedinger Linden Chapel, 2741 Cleveland Ave. where the funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999. Masonic service 8:00 p.m. Monday.
