STURGEON Virginia Barnhart Sturgeon, 85, of Upper Arlington, Oh., passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Forum of Knightsbridge. She was born October 22, 1923 in Monongahela, Pa., the daughter of Elmer Crossland Barnhart and Anna Millen Barnhart. She graduated from Monongahela High School in 1941 and moved to Washington, Pa. where she lived until 1986. She graduated from the Washington Seminary and married Robert MacIntosh Sturgeon in 1950. She raised three sons Richard M., Mark B. and Jeffrey B. in Washington and was active in various organizations in the Washington area. Virginia had five older brothers, Richard, Art, Jack, Junior and Marshall; 16 nieces and nephews; and eight grandchildren. Her five brothers kept a close eye on her throughout their lives and Virginia was very close to several of her nieces and nephews as a result. She was a great mother and grandmother and we will miss her kindness and dry wit that remained with her until her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers and sisters-in-law, and her husband Robert. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard M. and Jeanine of Ann Arbor, Mich., Mark and Janet Sturgeon of Columbus, Oh., and Jeffrey B. and Laura Sturgeon of Columbus, Oh.; her eight grandchildren include Jessica (Ryan McFadden) of Columbus, Rachel in Boston, Mass., Matthew, Robin, Morgan and Cameron of Columbus, and Alexandria and Annelisa of Ann Arbor, Mich. Virginia was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington and of Presbyterian and Methodist Churches in Washington, Pa. Her family will have a private service at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington, Oh., where she will be buried next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memory Care Center Employee Fund at the Forum of Knightsbridge or the HomeReach Hospice of Columbus. The family would like to thank the staff of the Forum's Memory Care unit for taking great care of Virginia over the last two years of her life. SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL is assisting the family.
