Braxton E. Tewart, age 91, of Worthington, Ohio died on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Forum at Knightsbridge. Born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio on May 3, 1926. A World War II Veteran, having served in the US Army/Air Corp. He was a proud recipient of the Honor Flight. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a BSC in 1949 and Masters in 1971. Braxton’s career spanned the years from 1949 to 1988, including posts with the American Lung, Cancer and Heart Association, and The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He was active in anti-smoking efforts for 35 years, and a member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church for more than 49 years (Deacon and Elder). He was an active volunteer for the Worthington Schools, specifically as a PTA President, Circle of Grandparents and as a tutor. His lifelong interests include family activities, camping, golf, photography, reading and travel. He is preceded in death by his wife, Polly Ann Tewart; son-in-law, Don Pierce; and siblings.
He is survived by two daughters and two sons: Lydia Pierce, Bradley (Kathy) Tewart, Jeffrey (Julie) Tewart and Sara (Andrew) Dale; grandchildren Lauren (Ron) Dumosch, Nathan (Katie) Tewart, Gordon Tewart, Jonathan (Wendy) Tewart, Jason (Julia) Tewart and Jennifer (Mitch) Schulze; great-grandchildren: Autumn and Norah Tewart, Presphone Tewart, Braxton and Emilia Tewart, Noah and Jasper Schulze; sister Shirley DeWeese. Family will receive friends from 4-6pm, Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street where the Funeral Service will follow at 6pm that evening. Private interment will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer, Lung or Heart Association in his memory.
