THOMAS Myrtle A. (Bennett) Thomas, 95, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly long-time resident of Columbus, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2010 at Life Care Center of Hilton Head Island. Born in Claibourne, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Otis Joseph Fuller and Emma May Laugher Fuller. Her life was an example of grace, dignity, and courage to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by husbands Richard L. Bennett Sr. of 35 years and Robert P. Thomas of 18 years, daughter Constance L. Chapman, son Robert E. Bennett, brothers Stanley and Charles H. Fuller, sister Edna M. Fuller and grandchildren Karen S. Underwood and Richard L. Bennett III. She is survived by one son, Richard L. Bennett and his wife, Marie of Hilton Head Island; step-children, Dennis Thomas and wife, Janet of Hilliard, Ohio and Shirley and Wendell Kalck of Lakeland, Florida; son-in-law, Mark Chapman and daughter-in-law, Barbara Bennett. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren, Steve Chapman, Debra Burchfield, Sharon Zimmerman, Randall, Brian and Scott Bennett, Kim Rowan, Chris, Lauren and Greg Thomas and Steve Bollinger; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thomas was employed by Ranco Corporation for 35 yuears and a fifty year member Order of Amaranth Colonial Court #44 where she served as Royal Matron in 1966. She was also an avid gradner and reader. Funeral service 1 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, Ohio, where friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Rev. William R. Leety officiating.
