VOLLMER Donald "Don" C. Vollmer, age 84, of Columbus, died peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Kobacker House. Don was a loving and caring husband, dad and grandpa. Retired from Battelle after 40 years. Longtime member of North Community Lutheran Church. For many years Don served as a Red Coat at Ohio Stadium and as a Ranger at the OSU Golf Courses. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, WWII and the U.S. Navy, Korea. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Lydia Vollmer; daughters, Janelle (Kirk) McClary, Dianne (John) Boganwright, Tricia (Mike) Kilgore; grandchildren, Jacee (Ross) Scoular, Kelsey Boganwright, Kailyn and Tessa Kilgore, Max and Erin McClary; sister, Helen Randall. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Wednesday at the North Community Lutheran Church, 114 Morse Road, Columbus. Pastor Chris Adams officiating. Private interment at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
