WHITNEY Marian Whitney, age 95, Saturday, July 2, 2012 at Friendship Village, Dublin, Ohio. Born October 8, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio. She is preceded in death by Dr. D. Ransom Whitney, her husband of 68 years, parents Roy and Verna Whitney, two brothers, a granddaughter and one son-in-law. Marian graduated from Oberlin College in 1938 with a BA in English Literature. As a young woman she developed her interest in music by playing the piano and singing. This brought her and those around her great joy. She gave strong support to her husband as a force in the Statistics Department at OSU, OSURA and other activities. Marian was proud of her involvement and presidency of the Women's Club at OSU and was a member of the United Church of Christ (First Congregational Church) in Columbus. She had a lifelong love of music, theater, traveling and gardening. She is survived by daughters, Marilyn Bos of Leesburg, VA and Roberta (Jack) Jacobowitz of Williamston, MI; sons, Ronald (Joan) of Providence, RI and Kenneth of Delaware, OH; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
