The Worthington Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) presented gifts to the Worthington Schools in honor of the Bicentennial of the United States of America at a special ceremony held on the front lawn of Worthington High School, May 26, 1976. Eleven historic flags of national and local significance were formally dedicated. Thirty-three students participated in the ceremony, holding and displaying the flags as well as telling the stories of the historic flags and the Connecticut pioneers coming to Worthington. The flags were also presented in special programs at each school in the Worthington School District during the months of May and June 1976, and then were rotated throughout the school system the following school year.
