The three men sitting on a bench in front of Worthington Presbyterian Church are dressed in typical men's fashions of the late nineteenth century. The two men on the right are wearing waistcoats or vests, an essential for any well dressed man. Their hats are fedoras or homburgs, made of felt with a soft brim and crease in the center. The man on the left is wearing a bowler hat, made of hard felt with a rolled rim. The bowler hat was the epitome of male style for nearly 50 years. He is also without a waistcoat, but his watch fob is still visible. The man on the far right is wearing the new soft split collar with a broad neckscarf, while the other two sport the high stiff detachable collar with the narrow four-in-hand tie that was most common. Their trousers have no cuffs, and are worn with high top pointed toe shoes shoes fastened with buttons.
The Presbyterian Church in the background was first built in 1829-1830, with a new front and spire added in 1842. It is the oldest Presbyterian church in central Ohio. The building was incorporated in the new church built in 1926.
