This account statement from Bishop & Lewis, dealers in general merchandise, dates to the late 1800's. Frank Bishop (b. 1854, d. 1913) and Worthington C. Lewis (b. 1859, d. 1950) opened a general store in the mid-1800's. In 1890 the pair moved the store to 659 High Street, which later became Kroger's in the 1920's, the "Nuts and Bolts" section of Worthington Hardware through the end of the 20th century, and now is Co-Hatch and Grid Furnishings. The store sold a wide variety of goods including groceries, clothing and homewares. By 1900, W.C. Lewis took over the operation and renamed the store the Lewis Department Store.
