Cinderella was one of seven major ballets performed annually by the local dance company on a rotating basis. Shorter performances followed the main feature, including "Sparkling in the Deep" by the Senior Company with guest soloist Nancy Morcos of the Fasting-Farquhar Capital City Ballet Company, and various tap and jazz dance performances. Barbara Burrows, director of the Worthington Civic Ballet, choreographed the version of Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev's ballet and was also responsible for the elaborate stage design and costumes. The original ballet "Cinderella" is based on Charles Perrault's fairy tale of the same name. Prokofiev wrote the piece, which premiered in Moscow in 1945.
