Ten members of Worthington Presbyterian Church met in December 1844 to reorganize a Sabbath School. These meeting minutes document the event. Edward Mallory (b. 1788, d. 1863) was elected to serve as superintendent, with authority to appoint teachers. A committee was formed to visit families in the area to recruit Sabbath School scholars. Ladies n the committee were Mrs. Ray, Mrs. Mallory, Mrs. T. Barker, Mrs. Mason, Mrs. Parks, Mrs. D. B. Barker, Miss Irene Carpenter, and Miss I. A. Comstock.
