Delegates from Sayama, Japan visited Worthington the week of the Worthington's Founders Day Festival, which kicked off the City's Bicentennial Celebration. City Council President, Dr. Lou Goorey offered greetings Hiroshi Nishioka, Hiroyuki Chiyohara, Shuichi Takizawa, Etsuko Saneyochi, and Teruko Usami during the opening ceremonies. Later that day the SIFA delegation presented a handmade quilt square, made by the Sayama International Quilt Group which was incorporated into the Worthington Bicentennial Legacy Quilt.
