At the time, the Old Worthington Library was the only location of Worthington Libraries. Alexander's wedding to Bob Foulk took place that evening after the library closed, with food provided by staff and Worthington mayor Lawrence Braun serving as officiant.

Alexander worked for Worthington Libraries from 1976 to 1985, and again from 1997 to 2008; during that time she served many roles, including community services librarian, children’s librarian, youth services manager and youth services materials selector.

Alan Osborne was a professor of mathematics education at The Ohio State University, and married to librarian Jo Osborne, a children's librarian at Worthington Libraries from 1979 until her death at age 59 in 1995. The Jo Osborne Award for Humor in Children's Literature was established in 1996 to honor her commitment to bringing children, books and humor together.

Bernice Daniels was director of the Worthington Public Library from 1967 to 1991. As Lisa D. Fuller wrote in her book "The 200-Year History of Worthington Libraries, 1803-2003," Daniels saw the "dawn of the computer age and the demise of the card catalog. She introduced new programs, upheld intellectual freedom (even going to court for refusing to give the police the name of a patron suspected of leaving a library book in a stolen car), built the library's staff and collections, coordinated the construction of a new library building and weathered three failed attempts at passing a library levy."
