James Franklin Pinney (b. 1849, d. 1905) and Charles Ernest Pinney (b.1856, d. 1932) appear in this tintype photograph that is located in a Pinney Family Bible. The men were born to James and Esther Pinney, and they grew up on a 160 acre farm south of Worthington on the west side of the Olentangy River. James, who went by "Franklin," farmed near Worthington and was active in the Masonic and I.O.O.F. lodges. He also served as mayor of Worthington at one time. Charles was a blacksmith and carriage maker near Columbus. He later worked as a porter at The Ohio State University medical college. While both men married, neither had any children. The two are buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
