This photograph of James Pinney (b. 1807, d. 1877) is located in the Pinney Family Bible. James Pinney was born to Azariah and Dorcas Cornish Pinney who came to Worthington in 1804. James is the grandson of Captian Abner Pinney, member of the Scioto Company that founded Worthington. He married Esther Minerva Walker in 1837 and the couple had six children; Marietta, Weltha, Henry, James Franklin, Eleanor and Charles. They lived on a farm on the west side of the Olentangy just south of Worthington. In 1873 Pinney served as a trustee for Walnut Grove Cemetery and on the Worthington Village Council in 1875 and 1876. He is buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
