The Miss Burrows Fine Arts Scholarship was created in 2003 in the honor of Barbara Burrows, owner and director of the Worthington Civic Ballet and Jazz North Dance Companies, and Youtheatre of Worthington. Beginning in 2004, annual scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors with diverse interests and experiences in the fine arts. Recipients of the scholarship were also presented with a copy of a folio containing articles previously published in the Worthington News (reproduced with permission) featuring Miss Burrows' contributions to fine arts education in Worthington. This is the first page of the scholarship folio, featuring an article originally published in the Worthington News on January 23, 2002.

Barbara Burrows grew up in Worthington, Ohio and was a member of the 1963 graduating class of Worthington High School. She was trained locally by Duard Farquhar and Jorg Fasting, directors of the Capital City Ballet Company and also studied with leading dancers of Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, New York City Ballet, the Martha Graham Dance Company, faculty of the Juilliard School of Music, Carnegie Hall, the American Dance Machine, and the Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago. Miss Burrows was a founding member of the Worthington Arts Council. Locally she instructed hundreds of Worthington area children in dance and theater over a course of forty years. She was known for her authentic choreography and talent as a seamstress, having designed and sewed dance costumes for her dance companies.
