This invitation requests the presence of Julia Buttles (b. 1795, d. 1852) at a new year's ball hosted by Major James Kilbourn (b. 1770, d. 1850), founder of the Scioto Company. Julia was one of seven children born to Levi Buttles (b. 1763, d. 1805) and Sarah Phelps Buttles (b. 1764, d. 1844). She married Job Warren Case (b. 1787, d. 1843) in 1815. Managers of the event identified on the invitation were Peter Barker (b. 1790, d. 1863), a carpenter by trade and Matthew Mathews (b. 1790, d. 1842) a merchant and son in law of James Kilbourn.
