This document contains two letters written to Mary Johnson of Worthington, Ohio from Matilda E. Stern and her sister-in-law Emeline Stern of Green Springs, Ohio. Matilda Stern's letter is the first of the two and follows a visit to Worthington by her and Emeline. She begins the letter by apologizing for being too busy since her return home to begin a proper correspondence. She then continues with some small talk. Emeline Stern's letter follows Matilda's. She shares some pleasantries and sends her love to the Johnson Family. Both women hope that Johnson will visit them soon.

Mary was daughter of one of Worthington's founders, Orange Johnson and wife Achsa (Maynard) Johnson. She married Francis Sessions on August 18, 1847.
