In this oral history, recorded at the home of Evelyn Conkle Gilbert in Worthington on July 26th, 1984, Evelyn Gilbert reflects on her life as a child growing up in Worthington in the early 1900s. As she is interviewed by Larry Paoletti, she reflects on attending school at Ms. Eldridge's School and at the Worthington Public Schools. She remembers various businesses along High Street including Leasure's Drug Store. Transportation is discussed including dirt roads, the CD&M Interurban, and electric cars making all-day trips from Columbus. Evelyn also talks about life in a small town, coasting (sledding) around Worthington in the winter, seeing cows being herded down High Street, and other glimpses at Worthington as a small, rural community.
