In this letter written to Orange Johnson of Worthington, Ohio from Samuel Griffith of Fayette Co., Illinois, there are several business transactions discussed. It appears from the letter that Samuel Griffith and Orange Johnson had done some business together. Griffith is asking to collect debts for him from business transactions done with people in Franklin County and send the money as soon as he can. Then he talks about how well his grocery business and his home life are going.
Orange Johnson (b. February 7, 1790 - d. November 28, 1876), was a comb maker by trade from Connecticut. Johnson migrated to Ohio in 1814, attracted to the Worthington Manufacturing Company, friends and family.
